Better than what mate? From reading posts on other threads some have preferences which seem to be predicated on riding style. For instance, apart from highway cruising I like to keep the revs up a bit and tend to use 4th on my '10 model a lot. I like the throttle response at the slightly higher revs and the more pronounced engine braking. The latter particularly if I arrive a little hot into a corner. Reading between the lines, and apologies if I'm making unwarranted assumptions, Ferret, for instance, seems to like to use the higher gearing available on his '13 model and would therefore manage the "a little hot" situation differently, but just as effectively. Ferret has both types, as some other members do, so their opinions are definitely worth more than mine. However, I reiterate, riding style and conditions must have an influence on what is "better".
Cheers
