Gear indicator? .... Oh-oh, here it comes....Really, you guys wanted a gear indicator? Real motorcyclists don't need such a thing, it serves no legitimate purpose at all. Listen to your motor. Look at your speed. Figure it out for yourself. Next thing I'll probably hear you say is you wish it had those little dash marks on the speedo that tells you when to shift! Puhleeeze!

Seriously, I had a gear indicator on my 75 Suzuki GT 750, my 81 GS850G Suzuki, my 83 GS 1100E Suzuki, later on, on the 2010 BMW R 1200R I rented in Europe, and I loved them. Was one of the features that really appealed to me on the 14 dlx. Every motorcycle should have one IMO. Would much rather have that than heated grips, and yes I have ridden bikes with heated grips.

LOL-Yeah, the bike I had prior to the NT was a 6 speed twin so I got used to the 6th lowering the revs. Also, The gearing on the NT is lower and it feels like it needs a 6th. I don't feel that way with the CB. It's also not as refined as the CB so I hear the roughness more. I guess it's because it's a twin pushing a heavy bike around.
