I prefer the look of the '13 as well; it's a combination of small things that make it appear slightly sportier (to me), which is in keeping with my taste. For whatever reason, I find the extra half gallon on the tank to of the '14 to be very noticeable, looking somewhat bulbous compared to the squared sporty '13, which I always felt looked rather CBX-like. The '14's headlight is positioned slightly higher and bars/mirrors slightly taller, thus pulling attention away from the "foundation line" (as described in this article: http://www.bikeexif.com/build-cafe-racer), which is the implied visual line running through the center of the bike when viewed from the side. Vehicles with a "sporty" foundation line will have a slightly forward leaning angle, providing the illusion of speed at standstill; Harley foundation lines point skyward, thus projecting their relaxed/slothful nature.
I also like the overall balance of red/black/metal on the '13. Silver engine on the '14 sure is pretty though!
