What a varied, knowledgeable and entertaining group.
I hope I am not overstepping being only in the break-in period.

Oddly enough, some of those thoughts have crept into my mind too.
I have a perfectly good CB900f (919) with only 40,000 km's (24,000 miles) on it so I certainly wasn't wanting for a bike.
But the 1100 had been reaching out to me for well over a year and I jumped at the chance to get one.
The bikes have many similarities, but are different at the same time.
The 900F is much lighter and has a lot more horsepower and I enjoy its "spirited" nature.
The 1100 puts me in a different mood when I ride it. It does everything well and puts a huge smile on my face, but I don't have the desire turn up the wick as much.
I don't spare the horses, but at the same time, I enjoy a more cruiser-like ride.
It's hard to explain.
