I should mention, guys, that I was also wearing an airbag vest that day I went down on the Crest, and it worked beautifully. I basically high-sided off my bike and did a Superman into the gravel. By the time I hit ground, the airbag was inflated and greatly cushioned my fall. I probably would've had busted ribs and/or clavicles without it. I only wish more riders were aware of this technology and willing to use it.

I know there is a contingent of riders out there (road pirates, etc) who think it's not macho to wear stuff like that. I think it's just smart.
