I made this video for DBuster when my bike was stock. Lower end should be free of any noise. I have over 8000mi on my bike and have not heard lower end noise since my 600 mi oil change.

Alright, that's funny. Listening with my headphones, I can hear a bit of clacking from your motor in the video when the camera is at certain angles to the engine.

Alright, that's funny. Listening with my headphones, I can hear a bit of clacking from your motor in the video when the camera is at certain angles to the engine. Mechanical noises are normal, its that rattle which is not evident in the video, and is cause for concern. If a motor has it you can hear it from 20ft away, there is no need to close to the motor.

Anyone here read/remember Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance?

A good read, and a complex story - told on three levels. The top level, of course, was the author's satisfaction in his ability to maintain his motorcycle through a grueling cross-country trip. During one of his inner conversations, a segue from one backstory to another, he was discussing the mechanical noise eminating from his Honda twin. Keep in mind, this was a bike he bought used and with a hidden problem that Pirsig only found after two seize-ups from overheating.

He spoke of how the engine had a "nickel-and-dime sound - as if there was a lot of loose change flying around in the crankcase. Sounds terrible, but it's just normal mechanical noise." He then related of how he test-rode a friend's CB...same year and model. Completely different sound..."No worse, but different. Hard to believe they both came from the same factory, even the same year."

So it is. Any complex piece of machinery will develop its own "personality." Although all our machines start out equal, they will wear different and develop their singular strengths and weaknesses.

Yours is apparently that hidden rattle. It will either get worse and you'll find it; or it won't, and it'll just be part of your riding experience.
