Translucent candy paints like ours are tough to match-it is always darker because it isn't being applied to the gold or silver base coat it was meant to.
I've given up trying to match auto or motorcycle touch up paints. They're too expensive, and you can't buy little jars of enamel paints at the hobby shop anymore.
I'm almost embarassed to say, but I've found that I can get much better matches for much cheaper by buying cheap fingernail polish at the 99 cent store. The color variety is waaay better than the auto parts store. I've even been able to mix colors for a better match.
