Arizona Trip
#6
Rboe is right about I-17. It is hit-or-miss. Last Sunday I drove up it to Prescott and it was very smooth. Still, there was one spot where everything stopped and we inched along for a few miles until we got past a car that had pulled off to the side and a service vehicle was parked behind it. It can be very exciting when everyone is doing 85 or 90 and suddenly everything is stopped. There are those times when someone doesn't get stopped and the road is closed with no way around or off for four or more hours until they can clean up the mess and open the road again. So take water and toilet paper. Most of the time it is good, but people go too fast and there are steep grades where the trucks and RVs slow everything down to a crawl and people coming up behind still doing warp-speed and thinking they will find a way through. Like I said, it is a gamble. I still think it is the fastest way, but it may not be the easiest on your nerves.
