I-40 to I-17 to I-10 to US60 to Apache Junction. There may be congestion on I-17, but it will still be faster than the other way. On the other route you will be going slowly through small towns. It may be more scenic, but it sounds like you are not coming to enjoy the scenery. ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportatin) has a good website and Facebook page which would help you avoid road closures or accident-related traffic problems. Have a good trip, my friend.
Late September or early October I have to drive to Apache Junction to finalize a family issue.
I will be traveling by car from Asheville NC and will only have so much time , no time for site seeing and I will be there for only one hour.
My question is : should I stay on I 40 and than I 17 South or at Holbrook go to Snowflake , Show Low , Globe and than to Apache Junction.
This is a shorter trip but could this be a much slower due to traffic and mountain roads ?
Time is more important than gas as I will come right back to Asheville.
Any info would be very much appreciated !
