Finally made my bike comfortable and it only cost $20
#7
The problem with the sleep number is the same problem I have had with inner spring mattresses. As a side sleeper, my body's weight is concentrated more than if I slept on my stomach or back. So, I tend to sink down through the foam into the support structure. Even on the Sleep Number's air bladder, it was hard and created pressure points like an inner spring. I had to crank the sleep number up all the way to achieve the required back support. The idea behind the memory foam bed is that it has more of a bottomless feel. The trick for me is finding the right balance of spinal support without being uncomfortably hard. My concern was that my wife, as small as she is, would find the firm memory foam bed way too hard. She insists that she likes it. I was honestly hoping she could at least tolerate it, but this is even better.
