Yeah kennyw, that's the same pattern as it happend to me.
And as Flynrider wrote, the flashing (I'd say blinking) bar is really low-key at the 13's display. My Beemer had a big red light for this state.
But then, I knew about it, forgot it while riding, found somebody, who saved my day and as a result can report numbers -- everything's fine.
