Gotcha, yep, the first gen V-strom and 2nd gen SV shared the same basic engine other than cams, EFI tuning, etc. The 2nd gen V-strom shares the Gladius engine architecture. A number of internals are interchangeable. A popular mod for the 2012+ V-strom is to swap in the 2nd gen (2003-2008) SV cams for more power. They're all "kissin' cousins."
