You know, I forgot about that question that most of us are asked. For me it seems that whenever someone finds out that I ride, they invariably want to tell me about some acquaintance or friend of theirs who lost their life or was maimed while riding. I'm to the point of getting annoyed by it as it happens too often. No one really asks me if I'm afraid of the risk... They just go straight to the statement about who and who and what happens to them.
