I think LongRanger was referring to aftermarket auxiliary lights, not just high beam, and I'm quite sure that the All The Lights All The Time But No Gear At All attitude that was most frustrating. I share the frustration.
On the other hand, add me to the High Beam In Daylight Club. Never, not even once, has a motorist or rider during daylight ever signaled me to turn the high beam off. That includes riders in front of me on group rides. I have never been blinded by a bike's headlight when in a car or on a bike in daylight, either. All of my bikes have had just a single headlight and maybe dual-lighted bikes get flashed or signaled more often, but it's likely that those flashing or gesturing are reacting to seeing two lights and are in no way blinded.
