I remember about 25 years ago there was a demonstration given by GM after first introducing the 1990 ZR-1 Corvette.
A nickel coin was balanced on edge on top of a running LT5 engine. This engine was developed by Lotus Engineering under contract to Chevrolet. It was an all aluminum V8 design, with DOHCs (32 valves), the first of its kind used in the mass produced ZR-1 Corvette, with a whooping $60,000 MSRP at the time. The LT5 made 375 BHP and 370 ft-lbs TQ with a redline of 7,000 rpm, and able to obtain a fuel economy of 25 mpg. Impressive!
To verify this "coin trick" could be done, I successfully did it myself on my own 1990 ZR-1. Does that mean there was zero vibration? No, just not enough to be of significance. Same for my CB1100.
Long story short, once while my ZR-1 was idling in my garage, without the parking brake set, I became distracted and left the garage. After a period of several minutes while I was away, all by itself, the car slowly inched its way forward and eventually rolled outside and "DOWN" my driveway, and came to a stop after impacting my neighbors fence across the street.
YES, ALL ROTATING MACHINES VIBRATE, only some do so more than others. lol
