The driver of the car just finished 18 months of probation for criminal mischief 3 weeks before the accident. Maybe she won't escape jail this time.
Pease be super careful out there. Our population of riders are rarely the cause of bad accidents.
I found her FB page and she runs a horse farm in CT and has all of these nice pics about the farm and her girls that are in HS and college.
There obviously was nothing eluding to her conviction there and just nice warm and fuzzy thoughts.
People don't usually set out to destroy someones life like this, but the careless nature of this incident exemplifies why everyone needs to pay attention when out on the road. Riders and drivers alike need to be aware of their surroundings at all times, but in the day and age of 16,000,000 distractions inside the vehicle it is becoming harder and harder to keep your focus on the task at hand.....driving.
IMHO vehicular manslaughter NEEDS to be on the table with this one because of just how bad it went. Unless she had a seizure while she was driving, she was otherwise distracted and not paying attention to the road.
She has some money from what I can see, but weather of not she is willing to use it all to keep herself out of prison is another story. I'm sure that her girls love the horse farm and would be devastated if it were to be sold for her defense. There again having a felon for a mother that went to jail for killing people doesn't sound all that of a rosy prospect either.
Whatever happens it's gonna hurt, but she needs to go to jail for this, and I think the families should sue her for everything she has because they will never get back what she took from them.
