its funny, I was reading everything I could about this bike (I tend to do that haha, I spend hours scouring every forum I can find whenever i get a new bike) and Suzuki originally planned on the Hayabusa being their sport touring flagship. They actually never intended on it being the drag-strip king!
When they released it they realized how successful it was at the 1/4 mile and they went with it, but the original plan was the king of sport touring bikes. Too cool if you ask me!

correct, had a re-tuned Hayabusa engine in an upright naked chassis. Didn't sell well, I guess you could say the look is "unique". And those crazy mufflers didn't help either lol!
They say that bike actually feels quicker due to the upright riding position, and I believe it.
Now they are harder to find, I remember the local dealer had one for years, they were selling it brand new with a full Yosh exhaust for $8500 out the door. They said in the end they finally dropped it to their cost just to get it off the floor.
