When I was a sportster owner, most riders claimed 45-50mpg, and mine was always within that range, maybe a bit more, rarely less unless strong headwinds.
Hard to measure, but it seems to me the disparities among CB1100 riders is greater, maybe 39-55. I mean, there are the obvious factors such as riding style and city vs. hiway riding, but I'm wondering if those who never get lower 50mph are living better than I am or what. With a mix of riding, I seem to get no better than 45mpg (I weigh 180lbs). If mainly city it will drop to 41,42. If only hiway even with luggage, 50mpg like on a recent extended trip. Once I got over 55...coming down a long, long mountain pass. But normal for me is 43-44. I don't wind it up much or ride aggressively. But I do live in a hilly area in Oregon, mine is a 14 stdr. But in the end, I didn't buy it for it's freakishly good gas mileage...I have my bicycle for that.
