Sorry to hear about your mishap, Nateoh.
A couple of years back I parked my CB750 in my brother's garage. As we were heading to go somewhere in his truck, my brother asked if my kickstand was supposed to look like that. I looked up and noticed that the stand had only gone 3/4 of the way down and the bike was balanced on the tip of the stand. I can't believe how lucky I was that it didn't go over (the bike hasn't taken a fall in the 21 yrs. since I bought it new).
Since then, on either CB, instead of kicking the stand down, I push it all the way down with my foot until it locks in position. I've noticed that if you don't kick it down hard enough, it snaps back up, but makes the same sound as though it fully extended.
Sounds like you got off relatively easy. Since you've got the black engine, the touch up paint might be all you need.
