User CP (control panel) at top of all pages.

User CP > Your Profile > Edit Options > Messaging and Notifications > Default Subscription Mode: > (choose) Do not subscribe or No email notification

User CP > Miscellaneous > Thread Subscriptions (then select all boxes, scroll down) > With Selected: Delete Subscriptions
