I made my own kit using the factory kit and a few of the tools from an old tool kit and this basically will cover anything I am able or expect to do on a trip...
Adjust and lube the chain
Change a fuse
Remove the battery
I also carry a small compressor with slimy worms and puncture tools in case I have to plug a flat, but I carry that in my tail pack not under the seat.

Those will cover my personal mechanical abilities, and 99.9% of the things that would probably come up while on the road. If the repair is beyond those, I'm calling AAA for a tow.
Since I made this kit I have eliminated the shock spanner and put it in the tool box in my garage because I haven't used it in 2 years and probably not going to
BTW there is also a spare ign key hidden discreetly on the bike that doesn't require tools to get to.
