My KLR650 was my main ride for nearly 15 years...never had to talk my way out of anything...never got a ticket... never got pulled over. At some point I realized the speedo was off by about 7-8 mph at hiway speeds. Built-in safety guard.
I'll take that back...I got pulled over once in MX for riding in a "non-motorcycle" lane. Kind officer explained that the inner lane was for motorcylces and cars, but outer lane was for cars only on a two way street. The two cops threatened my buddy and me for over 30 minutes with court appearances, $200 fines, or we could pay them $120 right then and there...they even did the good-cop / bad-cop routine. We practically begged them to give us the ticket, that we would be delighted to appear in court as we had all the time in the world, loved the city, wouldn't mind seeing more of it. It was kinda fun. Then they suddenly said we were free to go. We asked if they could recommend a hotel and they did!
