It's not unusual for people with colitis (like I have) to lose 20-30 pounds without trying. Like I said I've lost 14 pounds in 2 months, but I'm down to eating rice crispies and a cup of caffeine free tea for breakfast with lactose free milk, a half turkey sandwich on gluten free bread with some applesauce for lunch with a bottle of water, and a baked chicken breast with white rice and applesauce for dinner most days. No gluten, no lactose, and very limited caffeine. Usually have a cup of caffeine free tea and a couple homemade gluten free oatmeal raisin cookies for a snack in the evening...and jelly beans are gluten free so I eat some of those. Nothing spicy, nothing fried, nothing breaded, no cakes, no pies. You'd be surprised what all has gluten (wheat) in it.
Gluten the main villain in the digestive track is in wheat and is used in most breads, rolls, pastas etc. Lactose, another gut villain is in dairy products like milk, cheese etc and caffeine is in drinks like coffee tea and colas. Cut out those three and you cut out a lot of stuff that make you gain and maintain weight.
