Hiram, I'm glad to know that not only did you survive this incident, but also that the impact on you and your bike was small enough that you were able to quickly relate the story to the rest of us. I'm sorry for the damage to your CB, but it can be fixed should you choose to do so. More importantly, you're doing okay.
I had an incident with a turkey vulture while driving a car back when I was living in West Texas. I was driving from San Angelo up to Lubbock when this happened. I honked my car horn as soon as I was able to identify what was on the road ahead of me and I had started to slow, but the bird flew right towards my car. I couldn't avoid it without driving completely off of the road. Damage to the car was minimal (I think it clipped the front bumper and the car I was driving still had a heavy duty metal bumper up front). I was none too thrilled about the encounter.
