Because other bikes don't do everything else the cb does as well as it does it. Why buy another bike when I can have all this greatness and still make improvements to the CB? It's not so much about trying to get to a certain bhp number as it is improving whatever I have. If I had a Busa or a k1600 I'd probably still try to improve the power.

Thanks misterprofessionality. I understand, although it's not a pursuit that particularly interests me. I bought the CB precisely because it is what it is. tommymck puts it well here:

The bike has plenty of performance anyway for most, and for those looking to add horsepower (like Powerdubs) it sounds like it's as much of an intellectual stimulation thing as it is really wanting to make use of the extra horsepower (which in and of itself, is a great reason to do it...) The only place where the CB1100 feels big to me is either pushing it while standing or doing the Fred Flintstone thing. And that's mainly a seat-height / carries its weight high issue, not a weight issue per-se.
Good luck to those of you working on all this. I confess I'm following along with some interest, although I have little interest in doing it myself. I'd rather be riding.
