Pterodactyl is foolish enough to set out on a ride with a bald tire, and then lock up the rear for a few hundred feet to get the cords to show, and then put himself in a precarious position of having to call for help?

I think the Big Lizard Bird is a lot smarter than that.

It's plain it is road damage or some other unexpected event.

But we will have to stand by with bated breath, eagerly awaiting the next installment of Pterodactyl and Cormanus' Excellent Adventures!

I think, I saw this issues here in Germany already reported by a friend. The problem with this tire is, in the middle is no tread, so no indicator, how much rubber is gone. Then you get suprised, when the textile shows up.

This happens with a lot of motorcycle tires though, as they deliberately leave the middle of the rear tire smooth for traction, knowing that in operation the front will have already cleared most of the water from its path. It would be nice if manufacturers put the little dots (like slicks have) at a few places in the middle so you could see middle tire wear better.
