Could not agree more. This past Sunday l rode with 2 very experienced BMW club racers on some twisty back roads and they could not shake me. My 2014 bone stock standard handles like a dream. Did not even think about needing ABS while riding at 9/10's of my ability.

ABS has nothing to do with how you drive. It's when the unexpected situation arises when you might need it. If you never use it, good. But if you have it when you need it, that can make all the difference.
A few weeks ago, I was riding with some friends. While crossing a village at reduced speed (50km/h), a big dog appeared from nowhere and stoped just in front of me. I braked hard, ABS kicked-in, and I stoped withn a few centimeters from hitting that dog.
Without ABS, I might/would have locked the front or hit the dog, and maybe falled down. Or maybe not...
And this happened with an RS, with its wide tyres, at the right pressure, on dry asphalt, with only 5000km on this set.
If I had to choose between ABS or chrome, for me it's a no brainer
