Easy peasy.

This post is truly outstanding. It speaks to one of the eternal human conditions we all face: how do we overcome an emotional fear that is somewhat rooted in our personal experience. It also demonstrates courage and perseverance without minimizing the angst that can cause us to give up or simply not engage. Finally, you held yourself to a standard not because you feared ridicule but because it was simply the right thing to do.

I cannot comment about whether or not a 45 degree climb on a steep driveway with a twist is necessary or not. But I can attest with complete confidence that facing life’s challenges with all that we have to draw upon is where we find our greatest personal satisfaction and sense of self. That you recall each motorcycle fall vividly and accepted help and channelled it all into an outcome you wanted, you needed, speaks to your character.

I did not think it was possible that the esteem you have already earned could increase, but it did.

It is clear that the same resolve you bring to leading a team in life-saving work is what carried you up that driveway.

The lesson I learned today: it does not matter if we lose control of the motorcycle briefly. What does matter is that we reclaim control with dignity and grace. David
