I was hoping to steer you towards the Metzeler ME880, which is a long-wearing tire, but I couldn't find it in an 18" fitment.

FWIW, I've had reasonable luck with the OE BT-54 Bridgestone rear -- they seem to be good for about 6000 miles. If you could find a ME880, you could probably expect twice that mileage.
