First exercise for those slowed down by winter
#5
After 60 years of living here in the Midwest I do get a bit bored with the same roads. That said, the CB is the one bike not yet in storage. I have ridden about 250 miles going nowhere the last two days, and plan to ride the CB again today. Our short window of good weather is closing tomorrow.

So much of it is prairie and straight grid roads. The river valleys are a bit of variety. To keep it interesting I like to take in the rally's put on by the STOC (ST-Owners.com). The CB is good for those rally's within the 200-400 mile range. For a few reasons: 1. 200-400 miles is all I am comfortable doing in a single day on the CB. 2. in that range fuel is available at regular intervals. 3. It is a chance to load the bike and go ride some new roads.

To the east are the Wisconsin lakes and river valleys. To the south east is the Mississippi River Valley and the limestone bluffs with their twisty county roads in the tributary valleys. DANG! Now I am already anxious for spring. To the west is the great prairie stretching to the Rocky Mountains. There are areas out there where a 3.9 gallon gas tank may not get you to the next gas stop. That is ST1100 country! I can do 800 or more miles in a day to get to the mountains on the ST's 7 gallon tank.

Perhaps I should plan a trip. Put the CB in the back of the pick up, and head to the mountains. That would be Awesome!
