Well, I guess that depends on your attitude.
Whatever you think the bike is worth, that is retail to them, so they are going to give you a wholesale offer with a cushion they need in case they sit on the bike a long time or it needs some work or a customer comes in that is going to low ball an offer to them? What is your time and aggravation worth? Placing and answering ads, people coming to your house wanting to test ride your bike, and low balling you with an offer. Then you have to go with them to a bank or notary and they are going to want you to lie about how much they paid for it so they don't have to pay as much in taxes. Selling to a dealer you show up with the bike, your title, get a check and go home.
You'll probably come out a little better selling to a private individual, but you'll work for it, mentally and physically.
