My post may result in a harsh critique from Forum Members. It has happened before, and I am sure it will happen again.

For what it is worth, I am a lifelong “traditional” road racer / bicyclist. I started riding road bikes at the same time I began riding motorcycles.

I have ridden more miles on a bicycle than driven on a motorcycle. I have spent more money on my road bikes than my motorcycles. I love both devices.

I can still maintain good form on a bicycle while riding a 3,000 meter ascent or spin for 250 KM on the flats. I am not a great cyclists—just good. In the last 45 years, I have experienced firsthand the technology waves in cycling and motorcycling.

I assert that “ebikes” are more “motorcycle” than “bicycle.” I assert bicycle manufacturers have done a far superior job catering to youth than motorcycle manufacturers. One of my heroes agrees:

My history of bicycling is what enabled me to recover from the assault I suffered. Self propulsion has metabolic benefits that are undeniable.

But my soul was healed by riding a CB1100EX and joining this Forum.

Honda made a wise choice to delay entering into the “electric” market. But with respect, they may learn more by looking to advance the direction taken by Specialized than LiveWire. Humbly submitted, David
