Rd, your description and view point on the CB is correct on every point and especially the last paragraph.
"The CB1100 is a bland motorcycle, lacking soul and inspiration. Of all the constant criticism of a CB1100, this one is more perplexing to me than all the rest. Wherever I go, someone notices my motorcycle and wants to engage with me. I am not a charismatic or outgoing person. The attention is the direct result of my motorcycle engaging someone at an emotional level, even if they have never been on a motorcycle. I am not sure the same effect occurs with the Adventure or Sport Motorcycle of the moment. As a rider, there is tremendous satisfaction that is derived from feeling in control of the motorcycle with power and handling in reserve. As for bland, this is what I see when I walk toward my motorcycle. If that is bland, I would like two more helpings."

I've been riding moped since my teens and I had 2 CBX and a CBR600 F2 at the time I purchased my 2017CB so I am not new to performance.
During that time I had no interest in getting another motorcycle to add to my stable until the 2014 CB1100 caught my eyes and I knew right away that's the motorcycle that I wanted.

It's a conversion starter when fuelling at gas station, I am pretty sure that the first questions asked by bystanders were "Is that a rebuild?" or What year was it manufactured? or comments like "during my youth  I used to own a Honda 750 similar to this CB".

As you also mentioned, this CB was not designed with high performance in mind and I am very happy with it.

I am glad that I am not the only one appreciating the CB.
