My homestead is in the Texas Hill Country, closer to the Llano and Colorado rivers than the Guadalupe. All three flooded from the 20+ inches of rain which fell in a few hours.
I was at my farm on the 4th of July when flooding began. See Timelapse video link of the runoff a few hours later:

We are on higher ground, and our family, animals, and property were spared.
The Hill Country is primarily rural. Many of the people who live there are military, ranchers, farmers, carpenters, oilfield service workers, and other tradesmen. A growing number of Hill Country Residents left the city and retired to the Hill Country.
We take care of our own. When the alarms sounded, people answered the call. The governor ultimately had to turn people away who wanted to offer supplies, help, and rescue services. 100 people have been found so far, and more will follow, sadly.
The most heart wrenching part of the disasters occurred at an all girl Christian campsite. Camp Mystic was a place where young girls went to share their faith and learn about nature. The girls were typically age 7-12. The “counselors” were 17-18 girls who had previously attended the camp and wanted to give something back. They were in walking distance of the bank of the Guadalupe River.
MotoMRT is a collection of motorcyclists, ham radio operators, and Emergency Medical professionals volunteering their time and talents supporting community charity events in the great Austin area. I believe the volunteers are engaged with First Responders providing logistics and managing the transfer of supplies on devastated terrains. https://motomrt.org/
