Glad I stumbled on this thread. I am in the beginning phases of deciding (yep it's going to take me a while) on a new lid. I have traditionally liked Shoei lids (Arai didn't fit my head shape, but I understand they offer a more oval shape for folks like me). A couple years ago, I needed to replace my aging Shoei RF1000 and didn't have a ton of money. I bought a Scorpion for $120 on clearance and it's been ok. It's just a bit noisy, but comfortable and I like the flip down sun shield. The Shoei GT Air looks like a good option.
I have always worn full face helmets. I might consider a modular. I bought a $39 Bilt 3/4 with flip up face shield for short rides around the neighborhood on the XL175. Also have a Bell MX helmet I probably should toss due to age and I never use it. I am also considering one of the ADV type helmets. The new version of the Shoei Hornet looks to be quiet and flows air around the visor without catching like a sail. It would look silly on the CB, so it makes more sense to invest in one helmet for my V Strom and CB.
