I just saw your post. I am sorry for your loss. I went through this 4 years ago with a black lab we named Casey. Best dog I ever had. Got him as a puppy. I know the gut wrenching feeling and how bad it hurts. I feel like we were lucky that God let us have him for the 11 years that we had him. For that, I am grateful and we in turn gave him the best life and care we could. I still think about him often.
Finally, after about a year for me after losing Casey I brought home a golden retriever puppy because I missed the noise in the house and companionship. I do not regret that decision. Their personalities are totally different but their disposition is almost exactly the same. Friendly, playful, good with kids, always happy to see you and smart.
I did not mean to hijack this thread but I know the pain first hand of losing a dog. My Golden named Reagan is every bit a gift from God as Casey was. He is already 4 years old and I cherish everyday with him even when he gets into mischief like snatching a ham sandwich off the counter when you are not looking.
(yes, he has done this more than once due to my carelessness.) I just wanted to let you know I care and understand how hard losing a good friend like a lab is. Sorry again for the hijack.
