The biggest recommendation is to find something comfortable that you'll actually wear.
During the occasional summer heat wave I'll wear my [url=http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Street/Jackets/Textile/brand/ALPINESTARS/T-AST-Air-Mesh-Motorcycle-Jacket/p/44067_200897_2]Alpinestars Mesh jacket — black with hi-viz accents. (After buying the jacket, I picked up some matching mesh overpants that I now wear almost all the time.)
The rest of the time I wear my custom jacket made by our local motorcycle leathers company, Langlitz Leathers. The Langlitz is a true piece of craftsmanship, but these days I cover it up with a hi-viz vest.
