Glad they got it running Bill. Congrats. I'm guessing the gas isn't in too good of shape either. If you can fill it up with some new gas and pour about 6 or 7 oz of Seafoam ( avail at auto zone,Walmart etc) into the fuel tank and then take it for about a 20 minute ride to circulate it thru the injectors. The bike will thank you, and it will be better for it if you are going to lay it up for awhile. If you do lay it up, remove the battery and take it in the house/basement. Pick up a battery tender jr and let it charge every month.
I wonder if it's the original battery. If so you might want to start shopping for one. They have an average of 4 year life.
