I've always been more than happy with this engine. Even after more than five years of CB1100 ownership. But I recently came to the realization that this engine truly is a bit more responsive than I had given it credit for. Last month I hopped on the CB at a moment when I would have been much better off not doing so (I was incredibly frustrated with some news I had just received). What I discovered is that upon whacking the throttle this bike will quickly lift the front wheel in at least the first two gears. For me that was enough to begin the calming process. It seems that under most circumstances I have a built-in throttle limiter known as common sense, even when I'm getting on it a bit, thank goodness.
