Knox Richmond armored jeans and TCX Hero boots
#1
For a couple years now, I've been wearing armored/kevlar riding jeans and CE rated boots. The jeans are from a company called Speed and Strength( cheesy, right?) They come with CE rated knee protection, and a little kevlar in the butt and knees.

They're ok. They are a slim fit, which means it's a pain to try to pull them down over a boot like the Stylmartin Legend.
The Legend boot is great. Order a size down, though.

The Legend has heel and toe reinforcements, as well as ankle protection on both sides of the boot. Shifter pads are on both boots. You really need a wider leg opening to fit these boots under jeans. I usually go with my jeans tucked into the boots. The downside is that one day a woman said to me: "Nice boots. You look like the Terminator." ( I don't.)
The jeans I just started using are Knox Richmond jeans. They are a cordura denim with CE rated hip and knee protection, and a kevlar lining that extends from the waist to the shin of the jean.

The fit is fuller through the thigh than the SandS jeans and tapers a lot below the knee. They're more comfortable that the others, and you can't really tell that they are riding jeans.
The knee pads are adjustable, which is nice, because the jeans tend to ride up a little when riding.
Still, there is no way they are going to fit outside of the Legend boots.
The TCX hero boots that I just received are also CE rated, and waterproof-breathable. They also have heel and toe reinforcements, and ankle protection on both sides of the boot.

They are a bit shorter than the Stylmartin Legend. They are also much narrower at the top of the boot, so either jean can be worn on the outside of the boot. Surprisingly, the TCX boot is not really much lighter tan the Stylmartin.

So, it's not really much of a review. I've only had the new boots and jeans for a couple days, and have only been out for a couple good rides since I received them. I do feel that the jeans are a good bet, they're comfortable and offer a much higher level of protection than ordinary jeans. I love the TCX boots. They do require a little bit of a break in period, but they're already pretty comfortable. The best part is that I don't have to go around with my jeans tucked into my boots anymore.
Well, that didn't work out at all. I hoped that the photos would be in the text.
