Bazbro, I did the same in the mid-70's. I took apart a perfectly good set of stereo headphones and stuffed them into my Bell Star 120, and then connected them to a battery-powered portable cassette player that I wore on a belt around my waist (this was several years before the Sony Walkman appeared). It was a nuisance. Ever try ejecting a cassette tape at 60 mph and flipping it over, with your gloves on? It's impossible! I ruined a lot of tapes as they unraveled and went streaming into the wind.
You owe it to yourself to try one of the latest Bluetooth-enabled in-helmet communicators. Hands-free operation, voice commands, excellent audio quality, versatile functionality, wireless integration with your iPhone and GPS, and relatively inexpensive. The Sena unit that I use is terrific.
