Back in the early '80s, my friend and I went to the Cycle World motorcycle show, where they were selling custom silicone earplugs, made on the spot. My rather frugal friend reasoned that, as they were silicone, he could make his own.
Fortunately, he only filled one ear with GE silicone sealant before he realized he had better see how it turned out first. His girlfriend ended up picking pieces out with a pair of tweezers. Painfully. Don't try this at home. Or anywhere.
