I just waxed my Triumph-branded Barbour International back in the spring.

There could be an issue in hot climate in regards of the jacket "trapping" dirt as the wax heats up. Not sure. I don't wear it in the summer.

Nevertheless, during cooler (and in my case cold) usage, water repels off, they look kinda 1960s British cool, and probably most importantly: They are light, even with the riding armor installed.

That said, the con I find is the fabric is vulnerable. So don't plan to spill while riding.

That's it, it's about repelling water, which happens so seldom that I wouldn't bother.

As for wax - I've actually stopped waxing my leathers for that reason, I actually use a product for leather car upholstery which is more liquid and wipes off completely. It's really difficult to explain how much dust there is here and how fine it is
