Rossi may have won this race if he had started on dry tires as he originally intended. The slowest qualifier started on dry tires and as the track dried he was 8th. Rossi made the switch to wet after the warm up and had to start from pit row yet still managed to finish 5th and at one point had turned the fastest race lap. The rain and the strategies used to deal with a wet then dry track have more to say than the brand bike. Aliex Espargaro was able to dice successfully with Pedrosa for much of the race despite being on a "customer" grade Yamaha. Marquez was again the Super Alien, dealing successfully with everything the weather and his challengers had to offer and making it all look easy.
