Watched the video on Facebook. I guess I'm not surprised that the comments there kept focusing on the driver. I agree with the previous post that both were at fault.
The take away here, in my opinion, is to ride like you don't know what the driver is going to do, because you don't. So anticipate the worst.
In this case, the rider didn't anticipate that the vehicle was going to turn, even though he was in a turn lane. Also, the commentary states that the rider didn't have time to react, but he did react...he turned his bike to the left. We'll never know what would have happened if he had slowed when he first saw the vehicle in the turn lane, but he just may have had enough time to move to the right and go behind. That doesn't let the car off the hook, but as the old saying goes "be right, but don't be dead right".
Please be careful out there.
