No worries Bigsky*. Very likely any major city in North America has similar challenges as Atlanta, and will probably get worse before it gets better.
I hung out in Atlanta a few times and didn't find it too bad at all, even during a weekday Braves game. But everything is relative. Locals there hated the situation and felt pretty strong about it.
For some reason Washington, DC stands out for me as being a simply horrible place to be during afternoon rush hour. I didn't detect any accidents, just sheer volume.
