It's very hard to do the low wave in a country where you drive on the left hand side of the road. If you did it in such a way that you could be seen, it would result in a very jerky progression indeed. Some riders in Australia wave, but it has to be a high left-hand thing; others merely nod; and yet others do nothing.
When I rode in the US it took me some time to realise that the bloke in front of me was not pointing down with his left had to alert me to road kill to be avoided; but rather he was waving to the cool dudes on Harleys going the other way. For the record, a good many of them waved back.
