This years goal was 20,000 miles and I met that on yesterday's ride with Empty Sea. 20,089 when I rolled into the garage last night to be exact. That's in 245 days of riding so an average of 82 miles every time I throw a leg over the seat. Not miles, just the kind of riding, types of bikes I wanted to own, and places I wanted to go. I already met all those goals, the only goal I have, if it is a goal, is to ride well and ride often, and to keep in contact with the racetrack several times a year. I really only do about 6-8 track days a year and the bike sits in the trailer when not ridden. But it makes a huge difference.
New goal with 2 1/2 months to go in year 22,000
Toward that end, today,I rode 2 times . Rode the CB 35 curvy miles this morning solo, then wife and I took ST out to dinner and then the long way home for another 103 miles.
77 days to go 1773 miles to meet new goal
Does anyone else set riding goals?
I just get into whatever bike causes the spirit to move me, lately it's been the CB1100 and I got a few more mods to go, OEM engine guards on the way, s/steel rear brake line to round out the front brakes and clutch lines. It's a rider's bike, nothing special visually.
If I get 6-700 track miles in that's a good year. Street miles, it has been around 16,000 year here lately.
The CB1100 will be the first bike I ride when I am able to get back on it safely.
I just don't like "press on regardless" goals because I have found it tempts one to ride when maybe it's not a good idea, fatigue, weather, etcetera can change everything.
But then again the traffic conditions where I live are extremely demanding right out of the gate.
A few weeks ago I rode around in the rain in pretty heavy traffic, it was an exercise in concentration. I really did get caught out, thought it was just a bit of drizzle but turned into a real rainstorm.
