Rough ride and night last night.
#41
Well, since this was my first experience with this, there were definite signs that could help someone else. The pain in the left side of the back. (guess it could be right side too, but it was definitly on one side for me). The sweating was immediate and obvious, and the feeling of nausea. I told Salesman Steve I thought I was going into shock, because other than the back pain the symptoms are the same. To his credit he offered me his car (a Lexus SUV) to drive home and said he would bring my bike to the house later, but I had no idea how much trouble I was really in and declined.

Had I waited just a few more minutes before trying to head home home, I wouldn't have been able to even climb on the bike. Then the problem would have been dealt with, with an ambulance ride I'm sure.

The pain was like I said excruciating. It felt like someone was jabbing me in the left side of my back with an ice pick and twisting it around or something over and over. And a full bladder that CAN NOT be relieved is a terrible pain in itself. At one point in the hospital one of the nurses asked if I thought I could go, and I told her I'd been trying to go in my pants for the last hour and a half.I didn't care, would have preferred, to wet myself, than to be denied like I was. It feels like it's going to explode out of you, but it just won't start. Maddening.

I have described Gout as someone pounding on your big toe with a sledge hammer for a day, then pounding on it with a hammer for a couple of days, then just being broken for a couple of days. Different but equal amounts of pain, but the gout definitly lasted a lot longer. I know I couldn't ride a motorcycle with gout because you couldn't shift or brake depending on the foot. Heck I couldn't even stand a sheet touching my toe when I had gout and had to sleep with that foot out from under the covers. Thankfully I haven't had a bout of that in years (knock on wood)

I've felt pretty good today and got in a nice 39 mile ride (partially in a hail storm lol). Snow coming tonight so may be off the bike for a few days. Booo
