If laws were passed and enforced in every state mandating the use of stock pipes or after market pipes that are DOT approved, I'd bet many of these strutting peacocks would give up riding all together.
A few years ago while riding the BRP with friends, we had the misfortune to get behind a large number of HD riders and all equipped with earth pounding exhaust pipes. As their group entered a tunnel they slowed to a near stop and revved the engines to enjoy the effect. This caused a near collision as we entered the tunnel going from bright sunlight to the dark and not seeing the slowed group ahead.
